There are plenty of innovative technologies to make the construction process smarter, more efficient and thus more future-proof. Think of smart production techniques, intelligent buildings or handy new tools for the construction site. Technological developments are moving fast, which is why they are in the spotlight at DigiBouw 2024, including as a theme and in the following four sessions.

1 The construction site is evolving rapidly. New technologies are being introduced and the variety of people on a construction site is increasing. The task facing the construction industry is great, but at the same time the number of available workers is decreasing. This requires new ways of building and that has consequences for the construction site. Timothy Lievendag (digital construction manager at Royal BAM) and Arnoud van der Heijden (digital manager at Royal BAM) will present their vision of this construction site of the future. During their presentation, they will address questions such as: How do these new ways affect the people on the construction site, in the short and long term? Which roles will still be there in a few years, and which roles will change?

The construction site of the future - What will our construction sites look like in 10 years and what effect will that have on 'our' people? by Timothy Lievendag and Arnoud van der Heijden. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 11:30 to 12:30 at Stage Beatrix Theater

2 Artificial intelligence, robotization and industrialization are booming, both in society and in the construction and engineering sectors. What does this all mean and what is coming our way in the (near) future? Within the engineering sector, a large-scale study on these developments recently took place. Doekle Terpstra, chairman of Techniek Nederland presents the results of the research and shines his light on the Technieksector in 2030.

'AI, Robotization and Industrialization: the Engineering Sector in 2030' by Doekle Terpstra
Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024 from 10:10 to 11:00 in the Stage Beatrix Theater

3 Doekle Terpstra's presentation turns into the Panel Discussion: What impact will AI and Robotization have on the overall sector in the short term? He, together with several prominent industry leaders, will talk about the impact of AI on the entire value chain. In addition to Terpstra, Carla Moonen of Koninklijke NLingenieurs, Carlita Vis of buildingSMART, William van Niekerk of TKI Bouw en Techniek and Leontien de Waal of ABN AMRO will take part in the conversation. On the agenda are the following questions: What opportunities are arising to make the sector more efficient and smarter? How can we use AI to address the tight labor market? How do these technologies touch the various links in the chain? It is certain: AI is going to make an impact. The question is how we as a sector will deal with it.

Panel discussion: What impact will AI and Robotization have on the overall sector in the short term?" with Doekle Terpstra, Carla Moonen, Carlita Vis, William van Niekerk and Leontien de Waal. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024 from 10:30 to 11:00 in the Stage Beatrix Theater

4 Artificial intelligence could well be crucial to increasing the productivity challenge in construction. But how big is the potential? What opportunities are there? How can we exploit them? And can the industry play a role in this? In this session Bart Brink, senior program manager TKI Bouw en Techniek, will tell you more about it. He will use the insights he gained and described in his position paper "Artificial Intelligence for Life Extension," earlier this year.

"Is the deployment of AI the solution to the industry's productivity challenge?" by Bart Brink. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Stage Beatrix Theater
